Biography

Ashwell Prince will fill the role of Lancashire overseas player ahead of VVS Laxman's arrival at Old Trafford. A nuggety left-hander from the Eastern Cape, Prince scored two centuries against England in the summer of 2008 to reclaim the Basil d'Oliveira Trophy for South Africa. He is also the first non-white player to captain South Africa. Prince’s presence could be vital in a Lancashire batting order shorn of former captain Stuart Law, and last year’s overseas player, Mohammad Yousuf.
