The right-arm medium pace bowler made his first-class debut in the LV County Championship Division One match against Durham at the Riverside in May 2008.
Sanderson only played the first half of the game because Matthew Hoggard, released from England’s Test squad, came in to replace him.
He made his first full championship appearance against Roses rivals Lancashire a month later and picked up his first wicket - Francois du Plessis. He impressed with 1-87 in 25 overs in a rain-affected draw where bat dominated ball.
Sanderson continued his good form for England Under-19 in July with 2-20 against Bangladesh A in another rain-shortened draw at Loughborough.
He was announced in the England Under-19 one-day international squad to face New Zealand in the summer of 2008.
