The wicketkeeper is a product of the Middlesex Cricket Board and was also an MCC Young Cricketer.
He started his career at Middlesex, moved to Surrey for one season and then returned to Middlesex in 2004.
First-team opportunities had been limited until an injury to David Nash gave him his chance to impress in 2004. He took it readily and scored his maiden first-class hundred.
He gradually established himself over the next few seasons and was a first-team regular in 2008 when he recorded a career-best 164 not out in the championship.
That year he also helped Middlesex to Twenty20 Cup glory and played in the Stanford Super Series.
In February 2009 he was added to the England Lions squad to tour New Zealand as cover for Steven Davies.
However, that summer Scott lost his place to John Simpson and spent much of the next two seasons on loan at Worcestershire, whom he joined on a one-year deal for 2011.
