Kate Cross

The daughter of former professional footballer David, Cross won the Eversheds most promising young cricketer award in 2007 having broken into the England Development side aged 15.

She began playing cricket at the age of eight, broke into the Lancashire women Under-13 team when she was only 10 and made her debut for senior side at 13.

In October 2006 Cross was the first female to be accepted into the Lancashire academy. The following August she represented her country as part of the England Development Under-21 squad at the European Championships in the Netherlands.

Having impressed for England women’s academy in 2010, the pace bowler was called up to England women’s tour of Australia in January 2011 following injuries to Claire Taylor and Beth Morgan.

But she had to wait until 2013 to make her senior international bow. She was selected for the tour of the West Indies and grasped her opportunity, taking 4-51 in the second ODI as England recorded a 2-0 series victory.
