Liddle is a tall, whippy, left-arm seamer who showed wicket-taking potential in his early matches for Leicestershire.
Yet, after failing to secure an extended run in the first team, he signed a two-year deal with County Champions Sussex for the 2007 season.
The paceman topped the county's Twenty20 bowling averages in 2008 with 10 victims from five matches at 16, after which he endured a frustrating period on the sidelines due to injury problems.
Liddle returned to his best form in 2011, though, and featured regularly in the Sharks’ limited-overs sides, taking 14 wickets in 11 Friends Life t20 games.
He was subsequently awarded a new two-year contract during that summer.
