Damien Wright

Aussie paceman Damien Wright was brought to Northamptonshire to add some zip to the county's bowling attack.

He possesses a classical side-on action and the ability to create steep bounce, a talent that came to the fore playing for Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield despite missing large parts of recent seasons recovering from a series of injuries.

He is also renowned for his prowess in the gully where he regularly subverts the stereotype of the lumbering, leaden-footed strike bowler.

With a top score of 111 and a sound technique, Wright is considered by some to be a genuine all-rounder though it is his ability with the ball that prompted Northants to snap him up.

He took 53 first class wickets in the 2005 season, and another 26 in the totesport league, topping the leading wicket taker list for Northamptonshire.

In 2002, Wright represented Scotland as their one permitted overseas player.
