The left-handed opening batsman is a former England Under-17 player. He made his debut for Glamorgan's second XI in 1998 before breaking into the first team later that season.
In 2002 he returned to the county, after studying at Swansea University, and was immediately put into the first XI.
Cherry scored his maiden double century for Glamorgan in 2005, making 226 against Middlesex at Southgate.
However, his feats with the bat were not enough to stave off relegation for Glamorgan into Division Two of the County Championship.
Cherry struggled to match his previous season’s feats in 2006 managing just one century as Glamorgan endured another difficult year.
He has also played in the Pembrokeshire League and for the South Wales Cricket Association.
Cherry retired from professional cricket after the 2007 season.
