A right-arm fast bowler capable of generating genuine pace, Griffiths came through Hampshire's Academy and represented England Under-19s. In 2012 he took the prized wicket of Ian Bell as Hampshire beat Warwickshire in the Clydesdale Bank 40 final. Griffiths, who like Danny Briggs hails from the Isle of Wight, was awarded his first contract at Hampshire when he was given a one-year deal for the 2005 season. He made his first-class debut in 2006 but it was not until 2009 - when he appeared in nine County Championship games - that he was considered a first-team regular.
