Francois Du Plessis
A fluent, aggressive batsman and leg-spin bowler, Du Plessis first came to prominence in 2003 when he scored 177 for South Africa Under-19s against England Under-19s.
He arrived at Old Trafford in 2008 on a Kolpal deal, and brought with him glowing reviews from his homeland.
However, his best performances in Lancashire colours have been reserved for one-day and Twenty20 cricket, the finest of which was an unbeaten 113 not out off 75 balls in the Friends Provident Trophy win over Essex at Old Trafford in May 2009.
Du Plessis is more than a part-time bowler - his flat trajectory is better suited to the limited-overs arena - and his fielding, whether it be at backward point, or on the boundary in the shorter form of the game, is nothing short of exceptional.
