The South-African-born wicketkeeper-batsman has established a career in England with tidy glovework and the ability to score crucial middle-order runs. Brophy, who played for Ireland in the NatWest Trophy in 2000, moved to Yorkshire for the beginning of the 2006 season, after being released by Northamptonshire halfway through 2005 following a poor run of form. Brophy established himself as Yorkshire’s number one gloveman, but was then overtaken by the emergence of Jonny Bairstow in 2011 - his benefit year.
