Grant Hodnett

The South Africa-born top-order batsman made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire in the County Championship match against Warwickshire, the final match of the 2005 season.

Hodnett narrowly missed out on a half-century in the first innings when, batting at number three, he was dismissed for 49 - the top score in Gloucestershire’s total of 118.

He was given his chance after performing consistently well in the West of England Premier League for Cheltenham and in January 2006 it was announced he had been given a 12-week trial at the start of the new season.

He impressed sufficiently in his first full season with the first-team squad in 2007 to earn a new contract, but he failed to hold down a regular place in the side and was released at the end of the 2009 season.
