Biography

Marshall gave up his New Zealand career to play for Gloucestershire, and has been a mainstay in the middle-order ever since. He began his career at Bristol in 2006, but it was after the 2007 World Cup - when he was a late-call up when Lou Vincent broke a wrist - that he refused a national contract to concentrate on his Gloucestershire duties. He had been a revelation during his first summer when he averaged over 60 in the County Championship and hit a career-best 168 against Leicestershire, but it was not until 2013 that he went beyond 1,000 championship runs for a second time.
