Gurney's superb performances for Nottinghamshire in 2013 led to his England call-up for the tour of the West Indies.
The left-arm seamer took 48 wickets in the LV= County Championship and a further 26 in limited-overs cricket.
He travelled with the squad to the Caribbean in February, after training with the Test squad ahead of the Ashes series in Australia.
Gurney caught the eye for Leicestershire seconds after graduating from Leeds-Bradford University. He made his senior debut against Northamptonshire in September 2007.
At the start of the following season he famously dismissed then-England captain Michael Vaughan while playing for Leeds-Bradford University.
Gurney joined Nottinghamshire at the end of the 2011 season, ending with 21 wickets in 10 championship appearances the following year.
And his 2013 performances led to his international recognition.
