Biography
Ward moved to Sussex for the start of the 2004 season after enjoying great success in his second spell at Surrey, where he earned an England place, and spent two years on the south coast before retiring at the end of the 2005 campaign. He had initially been released by Surrey aged 18 but returned in 1996. Ward toured Bangladesh and New Zealand with England A in 1999-2000 and the West Indies the following winter, where he impressed enough to earn a place in the senior side the following summer against Pakistan and Australia.
