Bryant had his first taste of English first class cricket in 2003 when he signed for Somerset from South African side Eastern Province on a two-year contract.
Was born in Durban of British parents and holds a British passport. As such he was playing for Eastern Province as an overseas player and qualified under ECB regulations to play first class cricket as a non-overseas player.
Joined Derbyshire for the start of the 2004 season but struggled to make much of an impression with the bat as he averaged 11.26 in all first class matches.
He played only four Championship and five National League games in 2005, averaging 18.85 and 38 respectively, and was released at the end of the season.
