Roy is an exciting batting prospect who, as a 19-year-old in 2010, burst on to the scene to score Surrey’s first Twenty20 century.
Born in Durban, Roy has represented all Surrey’s age-group sides from under-11s and made his senior debut in 2008, aged 17. Later that summer he fielded for England against South Africa.
He had to bide his time in the second team in 2009 but became a limited-overs first-team regular the next year when he made his first-class bow and T20 ton - 101 from 57 balls - against Kent at Beckenham in the Friends Provident t20.
In 2011, Roy broke into the LV= County Championship side and struck his maiden first-class century against Glamorgan, off just 89 deliveries.
He also hit two List A hundreds in five days, aiding Surrey's victorious Clydesdale Bank 40 campaign which culminated the week they secured championship promotion.
