Biography
Root is a promising opening batsman who has impressed ever since making his List A debut for Yorkshire in 2009. He represented England in the 2009 Under-19 World Cup and scored heavily for the White Rose’s academy. Tipped as a star of the future, he made his breakthrough in 2011, nailing down a regular place in Yorkshire’s first team and scoring a maiden century against Sussex at Scarborough. He was rewarded for his impressive form with a call-up to the England Lions squad and a place on the England Performance Programme.
