Jonathan Lewis

Was captain of Durham for four years when he was named as the successor to Nick Speak but new signing Mike Hussey was given the role for the 2005 season.

Hit a century on his first class debut for Essex (116 not out against Surrey) in 1990 and spent seven years with the county before joining Durham in 1997.

Scored a double century on his debut for Durham, making him only the third person to make a century on his debut for two different counties.

Won his county cap in 1998 and was awarded a benefit year in 2004. Was almost the first batsman to reach 1,000 first class runs in 2003 but was narrowly beaten to the mark by Kent’s Ed Smith.
