Made his Warwickshire debut back in 1989, earning his county cap three years later, and represented England A on tours to India in 1994-95 and to Pakistan in 1995-96. Piper was named London Young Cricketer of the Year in 1989 and one of his greatest memories is being at the crease when Brian Lara reached 501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham in 1994. He himself made an unbeaten 116 in that game, his highest first class score to date.
