Luke Wells

A left-handed batsman who studied at Loughborough University, Wells was awarded a three-summer contract by Sussex in 2009.

The son of former Sussex captain Alan, who played a solitary Test for England, Luke starred on occasion for England Under-19s before making his senior Sussex debut against Bangladesh in 2010.

The following year, Wells - in his first full season - gave notice of his vast potential by hitting 824 LV= County Championship runs, including three centuries.

He subsequently signed a one-year contract extension lasting until the end of the 2014 season.
