Biography

Pettini, a former England Under-19 batsman, made his Essex debut in the final championship game of the 2001 season, hitting a crucial 41 to help them beat champions Yorkshire. His appearances were limited largely to the one-day arena until 2006, a summer which saw him register his maiden first-class hundred, against Somerset at Taunton in May. He was an ever-present in the championship side that summer, and an unbeaten 208 against Derbyshire late in the campaign contributed to his tally of 1,125 runs at an average of 45.
