Biography
Pettini, a former England Under-19 international, is a talented opening batsman thanks in part to his elegant stroke-making. After his Essex debut in the final County Championship game of the 2001 season, Pettini’s appearances were limited largely to the limited-overs arena until 2006, a summer which saw him register his maiden first-class hundred - against Somerset at Taunton in May. He was an ever-present in the championship side that summer, and an unbeaten 208 against Derbyshire late in the campaign contributed to his tally of 1,125 runs at an average of 45.
