Mark Wallace

A former England Under-19 international, Wallace became Glamorgan's youngest wicketkeeper in a County Championship match when featuring against Somerset in 1999 at the age of 17.

More than a decade on, he is firmly established as Glamorgan's number one gloveman, illustrated by his elevation to club captain ahead of the 2012 season.

He ended that campaign having featured in 199 first-class matches and requiring just one more catch to reach 500 in the four-day game.

Wallace was awarded his county cap in 2003, having been named young player of the year at Cardiff following his efforts in the previous campaign.

His returns with the bat have generally been solid rather than spectacular, yet in 2011 he became the first Glamorgan keeper to pass 1,000 runs in a first-class season, beating the previous record of 959 that had been set some 88 years earlier by Jimmy Stone.
