Hoggard finally became a Yorkshire regular in the 2000 season, although he had made his debut in 1996 as a 19-year-old. In 2000 he made his England debut against West Indies and helped England secure a famous victory at Lord’s but he did not feature again that summer. The 2001 home season was difficult for Hoggard as injuries restricted his appearances but he did help Yorkshire to the County Championship.
