Matthew Windows

A stylish batsman, Windows has had a steady career and is one of Gloucestershire's most gifted batsmen.

He made his first class debut for Gloucestershire, the county his father captained, at the end of 1992.

After impressive performances for England Under 19s, he made 71 on debut for the county and was retained for the following season.

Considered a potential England player, Windows was selected for the England A tours of South Africa and Zimbabwe in 1998 and was named Gloucestershire's player of the year.

He was now an established member of Gloucestershire's middle order, playing most of the games in the county's 2005 season. He scored more freely in the totesport league, coming third in the county's batting averages for the competition.

Windows enjoyed a benefit in 2006 but decided to retire at the end of the season.
