Biography
An opening batsman by trade, Wood occupied most spots in the top and middle order during stints with Somerset and Nottinghamshire. He made his Somerset debut in 2001, and averaged over 40 in the County Championship in 2004, a season that saw him score his first hundred away from Taunton. Wood followed that up with 1,058 first-class runs at an average of 48.09 the following season, as well as helping Somerset win the Twenty20 Cup.
