Mervyn Westfield

Westfield made his first-class debut for Essex against Derbyshire in 2005.

He came into the first-team squad on a full-time basis in 2006, having been part of the Academy set-up, and was selected for the England Under-19 tour to Malaysia in early 2007.

He played one game for Essex in 2007 after battling back from several injuries, but failed to take a wicket.

Though Essex kept faith in him at the end of the season by offering him a new two-year contract, Westfield did not feature for the first team in 2008.
