An affable, Australian-born seam bowler who holds a British passport, Claydon won three County Championship titles at Durham. He represented Yorkshire in the 2006 season but, after he was released at the end of the year, he moved to the Emirates Durham ICG and he gradually established himself as a reliable performer. He enjoyed his most productive year to date with the ball in 2011, claiming 64 wickets across all forms.
