Somerset signed former West Indies all-rounder Banks on a two-year contract at the start of the 2008 season. The only man from the British protectorate island of Anguilla to play Test cricket, Banks qualifies as a home-grown player. Banks is handy with the guitar, unsurprising since his father is the legendary Anguillan reggae star Bankie Banx. An off-spinner and middle order batsman, Banks played in 10 Test matches and five one-day internationals between 2003 and 2005.
