Made 301 for Canterbury against Auckland in 2003 and was called up for New Zealand's tour of Bangladesh the following year after a successful A-tour of South Africa in which he scored a brilliant 98 in the third one-dayer.
He had to wait another year before being selected again, but he made the most of his chance with two half-centuries and his first hundred, against Sri Lanka.
Fulton, who was a member of the New Zealand Cricket Academy in 2003, has played numerous seasons in England club cricket, most recently for Lowerhouse in the Lancashire League.
He also played for Lytham in the Liverpool and District Competition in 2001-02.
He has played five Tests and 16 one-day internationals.
