White’s prosperous season in 2008 came as little surprise to Northamptonshire followers, who always considered the Durham University graduate a talented player. White scored 277 against Gloucestershire in 2002, in only his fifth first-class match. This remains the highest score for a maiden century in English first-class cricket.
