Biography

Sidebottom is a product of the Yorkshire fast bowling academy which also produced fellow England internationals Matthew Hoggard and Chris Silverwood. The left-arm seamer made his debut for his home county in 1997 and was capped in 2000 when he was the leading English bowler and second overall in the first-class averages. He was the leading wicket-taker on the England A tour of the Caribbean the following winter, and in the summer of 2001 he was handed his Test debut against Pakistan.
