Cusden represented Kent from under-13 level through to under-19 level and in 2003 he toured Holland and Australia with England Under-18s and Under-19s respectively.
He was handed his Kent debut in 2004 in the totesport League game against Lancashire at Tunbridge Wells and dismissed Mal Loye with his first ball.
Claimed a four-wicket haul in the first innings of the Under-19 Test between England and Bangladesh at Headingley in July.
Made four first-class appearances that summer and took 13 wickets, including 4-68 against Northamptonshire, but was restricted to one outing in 2005.
Moved to Derbyshire at the end of the 2006 season, but was released late in the 2007 campaign having made a solitary first-class appearance.
