A familiar face on the county circuit, South African-born seamer Groenewald has an English mother and initially represented Warwickshire between 2004 and 2008.
Opportunities proved limited for the swing bowler at Edgbaston, but he has since enjoyed consistent success with Derbyshire.
Groenewald claimed 34 first-class wickets in his opening campaign with his new club, a tally he then bettered with 38 in 2010 and 48 in 2011.
A further 42 scalps at 26 followed as Derbyshire won Division Two of the LV= County Championship in 2012.
Although Groenewald cannot claim to be a genuine all-rounder, he is also capable of handy contributions down the order, illustrated by a first-class batting average of 21.
