The son of former England batsman, Matthew, Maynard was a powerful middle-order hitter capable of scoring runs at a rapid rate.
Having made his senior debut as an 18-year-old in 2007, Maynard junior became a Glamorgan regular over the following seasons.
However, following his dad’s departure as Glamorgan director of cricket in November 2010, the youngster joined Surrey.
Maynard enhanced his burgeoning reputation in 2011, averaging over 40 in all three domestic competitions and helping the Lions secure the Clydesdale Bank 40 title as well as LV= County Championship promotion.
That winter he was part of the England Performance Programme and toured Bangladesh with England Lions.
After a strong start to the 2012 season, when he again averaged in excess of 40 in the championship, Maynard tragically died on June 18.
