Tom Smith
A technically sound left-hand batsman and accurate right-arm seamer, Smith has blossomed into a key member of Lancashire’s team.
After representing England Under-19s, he initially struggled to make a consistent impact at Old Trafford, and was loaned to Leicestershire midway through the 2008 campaign.
However, following the appointment of Peter Moores as coach the following year, Smith gradually developed into a valuable all-rounder in all three forms of the game.
Having previously been utilised as an opener in four-day cricket, he made the number six position his own in 2011 as Lancashire marched to a first LV= County Championship crown in 77 years.
He also contributed 25 championship wickets, and proved an increasingly reliable presence, both at the top of the order and with the ball in the shorter forms.
