Palladino made his first-team debut for Essex in June 2003 and the following month claimed 6-41 against Kent - his maiden five-wicket haul - in only his second County Championship match, The seamer missed much of the 2004 summer due to a dislocated shoulder, but returned to hit 41 in the final game of the season, sharing a 143-run stand for the eighth wicket with Graham Napier.
