Umar Gul
Broke into the Pakistan national team when they had a massive clear-out after the 2003 World Cup, having played just nine first-class matches.
Took 5-31 against India in a Test match in 2004 but then injured his back and did not play again for a whole year.
But he came back fitter and stronger and has now established himself as a regular in both the Test and one-day sides.
He has great control of the ball and is a natural swing bowler, with his height adding to the bounce he can extract from the pitch.
He has taken three five-wicket hauls in Tests and one in ODIs.
Signed a one-year deal with Gloucestershire for the 2007 season.
