SuperSport Park, Centurion
End Names: Pavilion End, Hennops River End
Previously called Centurion Park, SuperSport Park is the home of Northerns (Northern Transvaal) and can hold up to 20,000 spectators via a combination of stands, corporate chalets and grassy embankments.
The town of Verwoerdburg was renamed Centurion after the end of apartheid, with the politically neutral new name of the town coming from that of the cricket ground.
It hosted its first one-day international in December 1992, its first Test in November 1995 and recently staged the final of this year’s ICC Champions Trophy between Australia and New Zealand
England drew the fifth Test on this ground in 2005 clinching a 2-1 win series win – their first in South Africa since 1965.
But South Africa completed a 4-1 ODI series here by three wickets on the same tour after Kevin Pietersen had made a superb 116 for the visitors.
