Back to the future
Posted in NatWest CricketForce 2010
I'm Michael J Fox, otherwise known as Mick or Foxy, and I have been a member of Gedling Colliery Cricket Club since 1992 and took over as chairman from 2006.
I have always been a great believer in furthering our club's aspirations and to develop our facilities, abilities and more importantly invest in our future – the junior section.
The commitment shown to the club by our founders year on year has continued with many giving up numerous hours to ensure that we are proud of who we are.
Whilst on the field we all have our individual achievements (mine has to be scoring 200 not out in a game too many seasons ago) or team achievements, I believe that our involvement in the NatWest CricketForce initiative this year will be one of our greatest for the club.
The focus we have given to work on both the ground and our club facilities is truly impressive.
I have always wanted to ensure that our junior section keeps on growing – the future for our club and see another 100 years of cricket, to ensure we are the club, not just recognised for our relegations and promotions but as true ambassadors for cricket.
Finally to position ourselves in the cricket community as the ‘club of choice’ - not just for our successes but for the journey we took – so that’s why with the support of NatWest CricketForce, Nottinghamshire CCC, our members, families, friends, the community and all our volunteers we will truly make a difference in 2010 to stand us in good stead for the next 100 years.
I look forward to seeing you all on March 27th Plains Road in Mapperley.
