Can't wait for those home crowds
Posted in ICC World Twenty20
We’ve been back from the World Cup for two and a half months now and things have been fairly hectic to say the least!
We’ve had media opportunities, photo calls, training and we’ve all had to go back to work too!
Our attention quickly shifted from the 50-over game to the Twenty20 to ensure we are as prepared as possible for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 which kicks off this week!
We’ve had some great warm-up games against Sussex and Surrey boys’ academies and Brighton and Dulwich Colleges, as well as playing two Twenty20 matches against the ECB Women’s Academy.
We had some mixed results, but are still confident going into the tournament. It’s been great experience playing against boys as the opposition – another innovative approach from Laney!
The group stage matches will all take place down at Taunton, the home of women’s cricket and then the semi-finals and final will be held at the same venue on the same day as the men’s equivalents.
That for me is so exciting – we can’t wait to play in front of those crowds; provided we get there of course!
In 2008 we played in front of crowds of 28,000 when we played Australia at the MCG ahead of the men’s Twenty20 match between Australia and India and we loved it, so it would be great to do that again! Especially as hopefully it will be in front of a home crowd!
I’d also just like to say huge congratulations to Laney who became a Dad to Lily Lane on Thursday June 4! We can’t wait to have him back in the camp with us and we can’t wait to meet little Lily!
