Bring on the English summer

Posted in England Women

It doesn't seem that long ago since I was writing a blog in hot, sunny Australia but we now find ourselves in cold, damp and windy Essex.

In preparation for the NatWest Quadrangular Series, the whole team met up for a week-long preparation camp at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough.

It was good to be back with the team again and the week as a whole was very intense. We played three games, including Bedford boys, which was a really close game.

We scored 136 and going into the final over the boys required eight to win. Danni Wyatt won us the game in the last over by claiming her first hat-trick.

On June 19 we had our last county games before we met up for the Quadrangular Series. This year I have joined Yorkshire on loan and we had Middlesex away.

We arrived at the ground on Sunday morning, and, although the weather was looking bright, the game was called off due to a leak in the covers which had left a wet patch on the wicket.

Although the postponement came as a bit of shock, it did give me a bit more time to pack for England duty.

We met up on Monday in Essex and it didn't take long for the fines book to come out. The first fine went to the fines master (Holly Colvin) as she loves Justin Bieber and even has a notepad with him on the front, which we thought was well worth a fine. I will keep you posted as the fine book seems to get filled up rather quickly.

I was put in charge of the team CD this series and it's safe to say management hate it. Maybe there just not down with all the new music and my R&B choices are already getting skipped.

I do feel for the other teams who have travelled on our bus as there are some random and scary songs on there, including our strength and conditioning coach's choice of Du Hast, a head-banging German song.

We've prepared well and are looking forward to getting the Quadrangular Series under way on Thursday when we take on New Zealand at Chelmsford.
