Excess baggage

Posted in ECB ACO

It has been a hectic few weeks since I last wrote my blog. Most of you would have watched the recent World Twenty20 - well I had a phenomenal opportunity to work with England for the duration of the tournament as their 'baggage master'.

This meant staying in hotels with the players, travelling to games and training with them and being a general dogsbody.

This was an amazing insight into the way international teams prepare themselves for major competition and all I wish is that we could have beaten West Indies at the Oval to progress to the semi finals. I am not a fan of the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Apart from that I have been running courses with over 100 young umpires trained so far over ten courses, as well as helping to run the ECB’s national competitions in the absence of one of my colleagues through illness.

Also we have been busy investigating new ways of training our Level 1 Tutors.

Educationally speaking, we have another meeting of the Level 1 task force at the end of the month, to make any amendments as well as rebranding it so that it falls in line with all of the other ACO branding.
