Volunteers out in force

Posted in NatWest CricketForce 2009

With all of the preparations coming together quite nicely, the people in and around Highway Cricket Club are starting to create a real buzz about NatWest CricketForce.

Our showers have been stripped and 'Aqua-Boarded' ready for the tiler to come in and do his bit. The new lounge area has been cleared out ready for the major rennovations that will be taking place, and the patio will be completed in the next week.

As well as that, the scorebox foundations have been dug out ready for the builders to come and build, while the net area is prepared for the renovation that will see the club locate their purpose built nets for the new season.

More than ten tonnes of sand is dropped off at Highway as the club prepare for a busy NatWest CricketForce

The progress made has already been phenomenal, with an estimated £60,000 already donated in materials and labour. The help has been, up to now, top class and has gone a long way towards getting that lasting legacy that we desire at HCC HQ.

Several work parties have been on going to complete preparatory tasks for the big weekend as well as a hardcore handful who are at the club every day doing numerous, sometimes tedious, jobs. However, it would be unfair to name anybody as the effort from the club as a whole has been great.

Food plans are in place and alongside the planned BBQ, the newly refurbished kitchen is going to be the place for anybody to beat hunger with the usual sausage, chips, etc.
The excitement and hard work for NWCF has been great because the season seems to be floating ever closer and with the prospect of having such a tidy, handsome ground, the players are really raring to go this year.

With just under a week to go, can the Coventry club continue to make strides towards becoming the best in the area?
