Hoping for better fortune in Hobart
Posted in England Lions
I am writing this blog having just arrived in Hobart for the second leg of our Australian tour.
Leaving Melbourne is a shame because it's a wonderful city but it's now time to crack on with the ODIs against Australia A.
So far on this trip we have had three very tough games against Victoria which we have lost. They have provided us with a stern test and no doubt we will have benefitted from a tough examination.
The guys are now hopefully a lot more familiar with the conditions we will face against the Australia A team. There have been some good individual performances in the warm-ups, notably hundred from Varun Chopra and James Taylor.
Away from the cricket in Melbourne there is obviously plenty to do. The city loves sport, Aussie Rules especially, and shortly before we arrived the Australian Open had just finished.
The stadium is opposite the MCG and both are right in the city centre.
Aside from loving sport it seems people in Melbourne also really love coffee. You literally can't walk one hundred yards without seeing a trendy coffee shop.
There really is a nice atmosphere about the place. Our hotel was sandwiched between Chinatown and an Italian and Greek area called Lygon Street which is packed full of busy restaurants which we visited frequently.
Hopefully Hobart will be equally as nice as Melbourne and bring us more fortune on the pitch!
