Icy glares from sunny Cape Town

Posted in England Women

Today we played our first game in the U19s Girl Cricket Tournament in Cape Town.

The pitch had a great view of Table Mountain and the weather was very hot. We won the toss and bowled Western Province all out for 119 in 39.1 overs.

We didn’t play our best cricket but still managed to still win with Alex taking three wickets from six overs and Deanna top scorer with 19, hitting the winning runs.

Lucy finished with good bowling figures of 1-24 from ten overs including maidens.

After the game everybody was exhausted - we aren’t use to playing in this heat.

For our recovery session our physiotherapists took us to the swimming pool. We were all looking forward to cooling off after the game but when we jumped in we got a shock as it was absolutely freezing. Just like having an ice bath.

Although a very exhausting day we all enjoyed our first win but hopefully we can perform better in the games that follow.

Look out Lancashire, England’s kittens are coming.
