What a fantastic day it turned out to be at Bognor Regis CC NatWest CricketForce.
Not only was the weather more glorious than we could possibly have hoped for and the turnout of volunteers a terrific result of around 200, but we also smashed the NatWest CricketForce fence-painting record.
Bognor Regis is now the new ECB NatWest CricketForce record holder for painting the 300m, 98-panel fence in just 22 minutes and 15 seconds, thanks to the 155 volunteers who stepped up to the challenge.
The day was made extra special by all the sporting celebrities who came along to lend their invaluable support to the occasion: ECB managing director of cricket partnerships Mike Gatting; England cricketers Chris Tremlett and Holly Colvin; MCC president and former Sussex captain John Barclay; and local Sussex cricketers Chris Liddle and Jordan Rollings all rolled up their sleeves and joined in the fun.
Key improvements that have been made to the club include a new electronic scoring board, new changing facilities, a new double garage and conservation work - quite an achievement for one day.
We also owe a big debt of gratitude to the Build Center, Dulux Paint Centre, Beaver Tool Hire, Brandon Tool Hire and Townforce for their fantastic support on the day - thank you, we couldn't have done it without you.
We had a fantastic day and were overwhelmed by all the help we received from volunteers. We would like to thank everyone who came along including individuals, sponsoring companies, Bognor Regis’ mayor Sandra Daniells and, of course, the ECB and NatWest.
The NatWest CricketForce weekend has made a huge difference to the club and has provided an exciting start to the season. The club has been transformed over the weekend and just proves that amazing things can be achieved when everyone comes together.
