Setting ourselves up for summer ahead
Posted in England Women
So we met up last week for ahead of the internationals against Pakistan for a week-long preparation camp before our first ODI in Louth.
We had two games against Repton School and Derbyshire U19 boys.
We were bowling first and their opener hit a massive six out the ground, so it wasn’t a surprise to find out he did play for Canada!
Tash Farrant, the youngest player in the squad at just 17 and getting her first experience around the England team, trapped him leg before wicket which helped us massively and of course was a great start for Tash with the team.
We kept them to 242 and knew that would be a challenging target for us. Arran and Sarah batted well but we fell 60 short, despite the result I really enjoyed the challenge of playing different opposition.
It's been a bit of a quiet week, mainly due to the weather. Our second warm up match was called off but it meant we had a good long cricket session instead.
One of the highlights of the week was when we heard that someone in our team had been going the wrong way to breakfast, going off campus and going at least a mile out of their way.
They only realised when someone said they were thinking of walking to breakfast that they thought “that's a long way?” and were told the correct way. It's not as if we never train at Loughborough!
Sunday morning we travelled to Louth. It's safe to say I did not enjoy bowling to Lot and Arran on the practice wickets as it was like the M1. An absolute road!
If that's anything to go by, we are looking forward to our first match come Monday morning and rocking out the new red kit.
