What’s the aim of CricketFest?

You know how great your club is at hosting, playing and promoting cricket. But we all know that raising your profile, attracting new members and enticing ex-players back can be a bit of a challenge.

So this summer, the ECB is launching CricketFest 2017 to get more people in your community to come along and experience everything that’s great about the game. We want to really celebrate the sport we love and the heroes who work hard at making club cricket what it is year in, year out.

Now the ECB is warmly inviting you and your club to get everyone – young, old, pro, amateur, complete novices, friend and family – to join together in playing, scoring, supporting, barbecuing, cheering and simply celebrating everything that’s so fantastic about the game at your own CricketFest – and all over four terrific weekends in June and July.

I’ve signed up my club, what happens next?

Simply start planning your CricketFest event and how best you can use the idea to promote your club. Consider your members, your neighbours, your local press, schools, mums and families, even any local celebrities you know. Think about how your events on the weekend would best appeal to these groups then see what you can feasibly organise.

The ECB will keep in touch with you regarding overall promotional plans, when you can use the online toolkit and expect delivery of additional resources.

What will the ECB provide to help my club promote its CricketFest?

We’ll supply an online toolkit to help promote your event (this will be available soon via the new ECB brand hub).

And we’ll provide an exclusive hamper which will include bunting, balloons, fun tattoos, picnic blankets, parasol and wind break to help you create a fantastic event at your club.

What will the ECB do to promote this nationally?

We’ll run a campaign throughout the summer on the ECB’s digital channels to highlight and celebrate all the clubs who’ve signed up to hosting their own CricketFest. We may also contact a small number of clubs to feature more in the promotion of these events.

What do we have to do to run a CricketFest?

It’s all quite simple:

  1. Open your club up to the local community with the aim of recruiting new people, raising money and lifting the profile of your club
  2. Be open to the ECB sending local media to showcase your event
  3. Say thank you to those key volunteers at your club
  4. Then just fill out a feedback form after the event

What happens if we change the date of our CricketFest event, or change what we’re planning to do after we register?

Can my club run more than one CricketFest?

Absolutely! But when filling in the registration form we just want to know about your main event.

Is there a deadline for registering my club?

Yes, there is. Clubs have until 5 July to register for this – so get moving! We’ll need 10 days to deliver your hamper after your registration.
