This summer, we’re celebrating all that’s amazing about our game with CricketFest 2017.
What is CricketFest?
Your local cricket club is flinging open its doors and rolling out the welcome mat to members, guests, friends, family, husbands, wives, kids, grandparents, ex-players – absolutely everyone. Even if you’ve never played cricket in your life or even been to your club, you’ll have a fantastic weekend of fun over four weekends in June and July.
Depending on what your club is planning, you could watch a live match or two, relax with a drink in the clubhouse, practice in the nets, have a tea and a slice of cake, enjoy a drink in the bar, meet new people and maybe even get stuck into the barbecue.
And the kids can play cricket, go on the bouncy castle, chat to the players, make new friends and have lots of fun running around in the fresh air.
It’s free to come along to CricketFest 2017 and everyone will have a fantastic time doing something new.
Locate your nearest club today using our CricketFest event list (PDF), give them a call and they’ll tell you when they’re hosting their weekend (if they’re not hosting one for whatever reason, tell them they are missing out!).
Howzat for an amazing weekend?
Lots to enjoy
Your club could be hosting great stuff such as:
- Bouncy castles
- Celebrities popping in
- Local team games
- Local sponsorships
- Games for the kids
- Hog roasts
- Inflatable slides
- Live music
- Home-made cakes and sandwiches
Play, watch, enjoy
There’ll be lots of cricket going on too at CricketFest. In fact, your club will have different games for everyone of every age and every ability – and you can get involved.
If you want to take part in any of the cricket action on the day, just ask the organisers. We want everyone to get playing and enjoying our sport!
Below is a taster of the types of formats played in clubs up and down the country.
Last year, 656 teams across 39 counties took part in this exciting competition where young players really show the crowd how fast-paced, exciting and unpredictable the game can be.
Saturday league cricket
This is where the old sloggers show the young ‘uns how it’s done. Proper, full on, thrilling cricket as it’s played every Saturday.
Women’s soft ball
This a really easy way to have some fun, even if you haven’t swung a bat since school. You’ll meet lots of great people, all ages and abilities can play and every game features plenty of laughs.
All Stars Cricket
You can watch the rising stars of our sport play a few games and maybe see if your kids would like to join in too!
What others have said
Here’s a snapshot of what visitors thought of our last event:
"We all had a brilliant time there. We’re not really crickety sorts, but the atmosphere was contagious. And the barbecue was knockout."
"My daughter got playing with some other children and she’s never picked up a bat in her life. The guys there were really kind. A very well-organised event."
"I didn’t even know I had a cricket club near me but I ended up signing up as a volunteer."
"My husband and I sat in the sun, had a few drinks, watched the games and made new friends with people who actually live on our road but we’d never met before."
