England knocked out of T20 Blind World Cup

Pakistan's 309 for one proved too much for England who lost by 147 runs.

England’s hopes of winning the T20 Blind World Cup were ended in emphatic style at the semi-final stage by a rampant Pakistan.

After winning the toss and electing to field, England spent most of the 20 overs chasing the ball as Pakistan, who won all nine group games, posted a daunting 309 for one.

Israr Hassan blazed 143 not out from just 69 balls including 25 fours and one six. Fellow opener Badar Munir was equally destructive in carving 103 off only 43 balls before retiring.

It meant England would need to go well beyond their tournament best of 257 for five against South Africa if they were to reach the final.

England were dealt a hammer blow when the prolific Peter Blueitt, who scored a sensational 505 runs at 168 in the group stages including seven half centuries, was run out cheaply.

Matthew Page, in making 41, tried to build England a platform but he had little support and regular wickets checked their progress.

Luke Sugg attempted to up the ante but the run-rate soon became insurmountable and England finished well short on 162 for seven.
